Flame (03)
Clarins Flame (03) 4-Color Eyeshadow Palette ($43.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a warm-toned set of shades that included two mattes and two shimmers. Three of the four shades were really lovely–the better-performing from all of the brand’s quads–with opaque coverage, blendable textures, and solid wear (even if they didn’t last the 12-hours marketed). The most shimmery shade was sheerer but usable.
Ingredients
Flame #1
Flame #1 is a very light peach with moderate, warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It had more semi-opaque, buildable color coverage that had its best coverage and adhesion when applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush or else there was a touch of fallout. It lasted for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Formula Overview
–
The formula is supposed to have “intense color payoff” and be “crease-proof” for 12 hours. Most shades had semi-opaque to opaque coverage, while a few shades–often those with more shimmer–tended to be sheerer compared to the more matte shades.
The consistency felt almost cream-to-powder, as the formula felt more emollient and velvety to the touch without being powdery, which made most of the textures firmer compared to a lot of other formulas on the market. For the most part, this translated to application that didn’t have any fallout and was blendable, but it sometimes required using a slightly heavier-handed approach to pick up product evenly or to get fuller coverage (if desired).
They did not last 12 hours on me, though, which is on the upper end of wear time I’ve gotten out of any powder eyeshadow. Most of the shades lasted between eight and nine hours with a few being shorter-wearing than that range.

Flame #2
Flame #2 is a medium brown with warmer, more orange undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, velvety, and a smidgen powdery in the pan, but it applied beautifully to bare skin with an even, opaque layer of product that sat seamlessly. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Flame #3
Flame #3 is a muted, medium-dark brown with reddish undertones that red almost neutral against my skintone paired with a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation with a soft, smooth consistency that felt velvety and almost cream-like without being powdery or overly dense/firmly-pressed into the pan. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Flame #4 is a medium, orange-coral with a satin sheen. It had rich pigmentation with a smooth, cream-like texture that was velvety and dense, but it picked up evenly with a brush and blended out with ease. It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.
