Kate Middleton is beloved by many for her simple approach to beauty. Oftentimes, she wears her hair down with light waves or swept back in an updo and rarely strays from those timeless styles. In 2019, she surprised supporters with brighter blonder hair, a welcome change to her usual chocolate brown hair color. Later in 2020, her brown hair came back but with blonde highlights throughout. Now, the Duchess of Cambridge has returned to having a full head of brown hair, but she’s wearing it in a completely new hairstyle.
The new hairstyle in question is actually the most casual style we have ever seen on Middleton. A photo of her laidback hair was shared on the Kensington Royal Instagram account on January 9, which also happens to be the Duchess’s birthday. Her brown hair is flowing behind her in light waves. The tousled hairstyle doesn’t look like it was created with the help of a curling iron, leading us to believe this may be her natural texture.
Despite the casual hairstyle, her outfit is far from it. She’s dressed in a red, one-shoulder gown with a pouffy sleeve. The photo is one of three portraits that will be displayed in three different locations in England as part of a National Portrait Gallery exhibition. The other two portraits, which were also shared on the royals’ Instagram account, showcase her wavy, undone hair from different angles in black-and-white.
Unsurprisingly, the Duchess of Cambridge looks gorgeous in all three portraits. The Capricorn royal is showing us a different side of her beauty routine, and we can’t wait to see what other hairstyles she debuts this year.
