Saweetie Swapped Her Signature Blonde Hair for a Fresh Copper Shade — See Photo

For some people, ringing in the start of a new season means making some changes, and apparently, Saweetie thinks the leaves shouldn’t be the only ones allowed to get in on some color-changing fun. The MAC Cosmetics ambassador has decided to trade her signature blonde mane for some fiery red hair, which she debuted via Instagram on Saturday, September 25. In fact, she was teasing a color change on Tuesday, September 21, with a carousel of selfies accompanied by the caption, “last day being a blonde 🐈‍⬛.”

Many of the rapper’s fans and fellow celebrities are welcoming Saweetie’s hair transformation with open arms. Actress and singer Cynthia Erivo expressed her love for Saweetie’s red hair by leaving a comment on her post, writing, “This is gorgeous ❤️.” Paris Hilton also agreed that the rapper’s new hair is coming in hot by simply leaving three flame emojis on Saweetie’s post.

We’re not sure who’s responsible for Saweetie’s latest hair change since a colorist was not tagged in her post, but it’s safe to say that the transformation probably took several hours. She also didn’t give a reason for the change… perhaps she was inspired by model Gigi Hadid‘s red-colored mane that she introduced on the Versace runway in March? The rapper also probably sought some inspiration from this season’s hair color trends; copper tones are definitely among the most popular requests colorists we’ve spoken to have gotten this fall.

Saweetie has been pretty loyal to her blonde, icy-colored mane in the second half of 2021, but she used to change colors all the time. The rapper has worn neon pink, cherry red, and has even gone to back her naturally dark roots … maybe this copper tone is just the start of a new, multicolored cycle.
